Overview

Attendees who complete this class and pass the examination at the end will be able to:

  • Interpret monitor measurements including oxygen displacement, combustibles, volatile organic compounds and cross-sensitivities
  • Describe how a photoionization detector (PID) works
  • Use Correction Factors to measure known compounds
  • Calculate Correction Factors for the LEL and PID sensors
  • Calculate TLVs for mixtures and modify alarm settings accordingly
  • Set PID alarms and interpret PID output
  • Set up and configure a MultiRAE Plus
  • Turn on, test and use a MultiRAE Plus to sample for hazardous gases and vapors
  • Download datalogged data and upload configurations and firmware upgrades using ProRAE Suite
  • Describe the purpose of Intrinsic Safety Certification
  • Practice sampling live gases and interpreting results
  • Service and maintain the MultiRAE Plus, including:
    • Field verify and calibrate the monitor
    • Conduct standard field diagnostic tests
    • Maintain PID lamp and sensors
    • Replace sensors and lamp
